Mobile Warehouse Scanning in action

On the warehouse floor, staying mobile and efficient is essential. With mobile barcode scanning integrated into your workflows, you can zip through your tasks much faster while ensuring precision with each scan.

Jimmy Skodras, Vice President of Operations and Logistics at Rockstar 3PL explains how using a warehouse scanning system like CartonCloud, simplifies their workflows in the warehouse.

“Once we have those pallets, we print a label, a scannable label that has all the information that we just input on the initial purchase order and once that's in place, we allocate those to locations. We use a handheld scanner to scan the barcode on the pallet and whoever's putting it away just goes to the location and marries it to that location. It's that simple.”
“It has saved us so much time and it's helped streamline the process of just creating a very positive workflow and a seamless workflow within our warehouse.”

Boost your warehouse accuracy, no matter the workflow

The key to optimizing your operations is getting a system that let’s you use the workflows you need in your day to day tasks. CartonCloud's mobile app with barcode scanning empowers you to effortlessly execute a wide range of warehouse workflows, such as:

Handle more, faster: Moving multiple items with one scan

When you are out on the warehouse floor, you want to fully maximize your time and effort. Using warehouse scanning systems that have the ability to move or capture multiple items with just one scan can accelerate your workflow and save valuable time.

There are several features that CartonCloud is equipped with that make handling the hustle of high-volume warehouses much easier.

CartonCloud’s Scan Move functionality allows you to scan and move multiple items at once into a new warehouse location, all with a single scan. If you use cross docking in your operations, then you can simply scan your incoming freight, allocate it to a staging location, and then transfer it back out to an outbound truck when it’s time to ship.

This time-saving tool accelerates your workflow, reduces errors, and improves overall efficiency as you effortlessly manage incoming and outgoing freight.

If you’re dealing with serialized products, you may want to be able to quickly capture serials in bulk. CartonCloud's Multi Capture mode lets you quickly and easily capture multiple serial numbers with a single scan of a QR code. This is especially useful when managing numerous serials for items stacked on a single pallet.

Manage inventory accurately with real-time results

You want to unlock your 3PL’s full potential – and the key to this lies in accurate inventory reporting. Warehouse scanning systems make this possible by ensuring each barcode scan maintains up-to-date records in your warehouse inventory management software.

Labelling Your 3PL Warehouse for Success

Now let’s talk labels! Setting up your warehouse for success starts from the ground up – with the right barcode inventory system in place so you can make the most out of your warehouse scanning system and reduce warehouse error margins with barcode scanning.

Labelling your warehouse with clear, scannable barcodes allows you to keep track of stock locations and maintain accuracy at all times. With CartonCloud, you can generate and print barcode labels on-the-go, that way you can always keep your records up-to-date.

Printing warehouse labels on the move with CartonCloud is simple – you can either export to PDF or directly print to a label printer via CartonCloud Connect.

But first, which barcode labels should you be using so your warehouse scanning system is fully optimized? There are several types of labels that are key to efficient operations for your 3PL:

  1. SSCC labels
  2. Pallet labels
  3. Item labels

SSCC labels are found on the outside of your pallets and containers, holding essential information like its contents, destination, and tracking. Think of them as universal translators for your freight, understood by everyone in the supply chain at each touch point.

Pallet labels on the other hand, represent an entire pallet of stock, regardless of how many different SKUs and POPs are on your pallet. The pallet label can be used to scan pallets into locations all throughout the warehouse.

Item labels are individual item barcodes that are unique to each item unit. They are ideal for stock with expiry dates or batch numbers. You can scan them to double-check you've got the right item when picking your order.
